Bella Ramsey, who stars in the lead role of Ellie in the highly successful television adaptation of the 2013 video game The Last of Us, has previousy spoken openly about their Christian faith. When they were 14 years old, Ramsey shared on social media that they were having a “full immersion baptism” and that their faith played a significant role in their life. They have credited their Christian faith with helping them overcome anorexia nervosa, stating that “Jesus” was the light out of the darkness. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Ramsey mentioned that their faith is now “a lot quieter” in their personal life, though they still hold onto it. Now 19 years old, Ramsey plays the role of Ellie in the show, which premiered on January 15 on HBO across the United States, with Pedro Pascal playing the role of Joel.
Bella’s popular faith videos under the “United Hope” YouTube channel and Instagram which really took off during the pandemic, are still available to watch and offer a true expression of faith that is free of judgment and hate and display a true and authentic example of what it really means to follow the Christian faith.
As for The Last of Us, the series has masterfully shown inclusion, acceptance and has quickly become one of HBO’s most popular series to date, with a second season already greenlit.
