“The Spiderwick Chronicles” Breaks Streaming Records on The Roku Channel

The Roku Original series “The Spiderwick Chronicles” has made history by becoming the most-watched on-demand title to ever debut on The Roku Channel. The fantasy adventure series, based on the acclaimed novels by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi, amassed the highest reach and most hours streamed of any title in The Roku Channel’s history during its opening weekend.

Released on Friday, April 19, the series also earned the highest daily reach and most hours streamed of any title to ever debut on The Roku Channel in a single day on Saturday, April 20. This record-breaking performance showcases the immense popularity of the series and the effectiveness of Roku’s platform marketing.

“The Spiderwick Chronicles” follows the Grace family as they move from Brooklyn, New York, to their ancestral home in Henson, Michigan, known as the Spiderwick Estate. The story centers around 15-year-old fraternal twin boys, Jared and Simon, and their older sister, Mallory, as they discover the existence of magical creatures and embark on a thrilling adventure to protect a mysterious field guide from falling into the wrong hands.

The Roku Channel, launched in 2017, has grown to become a top 10 streaming app in the U.S., reaching an estimated 120 million people in Q4 2023. With a diverse lineup of over 80,000 on-demand movies and programs, more than 400 live linear television channels, and premium subscription offerings, The Roku Channel continues to expand its content library, including a growing slate of Roku Originals.
