Rising Broadway Star Laurel Griggs Passes Away At 13

A young Broadway actress who debuted alongside Scarlett Johansson and has been featured on Saturday Night Live has died at the age of 13 according to Page Six. Laurel Griggs who appeared in the Tony Award-winning musical “Once” died on November 5. The young actress debuted in the Broadway production of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” with Johansson at age 6 before she joined the cast of “Once” where she had the longest run in the role of Ivanka. She also made several appearances in movies and TV shows including SNL. Griggs lived with her parents in New York City where she balanced attending Public School and acting.

Actress Eliza Holland Madore who also played Ivanka in “Once” paid tribute on Saturday to the teen star in an Instagram post.

“I am deeply saddened by the sudden loss of one of my Ivanka sisters,” Madore wrote. “Laurel- you were always smiling and always made other people laugh.”

It has been revealed that the Broadway star died of what is being described as a “massive asthma attack”.
