Amybeth McNulty Wins Canadian Screen Award For “Anne With An E”

Amybeth McNulty, 17, received an acting nod for lead actress in CBC’s “Anne with an E,” using her acceptance speech to encourage “every young person out there who doubts their voice, their mind, their power.” (CHRIS YOUNG / THE CANADIAN PRESS)

It was a big night for Netflix and CBC series “Anne With An E”. The family series won Best Drama Series and actress Amybeth McNulty took home the award for Best Lead Actress In a Drama Series. During her emotional acceptance speech, Amybeth spoke out and said that her generation is more than just young people obsessed with their technology.

“To every young person out there who doubts their voice their mind and power, I think we can now see in this last year and years before the young folk are more than tech-obsessed and lazy, we are strong capable and willing to fight for our world when others unfortunately in a higher power are not,” Amybeth said during her remarks.
