After 20 Years With Nickelodeon, Christian Butch Hartman Is Starting a Streaming TV Network For Families

Back in February Butch Hartman announced his departure from Nickelodeon after 20 years with the kids’ network. Hartman is determined to create a streaming network called OAXIS focused on content for the whole family. The creator of such animated series like ‘The Fairly Oddparents’ and ‘Danny Phantom’ has launched a Kickstarter campaign to get his concept off the ground confident that his fans will be there for this new project.

“You’ve trusted me with your childhood and I thank you for that, trust me with your future”

In a YouTube video, Butch Hartman shares how working for a big corporate network can be difficult and emphasized that his new streaming network will have him as the face of it allowing viewers to interact and share ideas about the kind of content they would like to see. He also mentions an upload feature which will allow users of the subscription-based service to share videos like birthday parties and other fun family moments, however, all submitted content will need to pass a strict filter to make sure it meets guidelines to maintain the network’s family-friendly focus. OAXIS will feature drama, sports and of course animated series.

Butch is a Christian who is clearly motivated by his faith to create appropriate family entertainment. The streaming network will join a growing list of streaming services such as Pure Flix and The Dove Channel which cater to a market of faith and family viewers who are dissatisfied with current mainstream options. In his pitch video which you can watch above Butch shares a story how a young fan once told him he had watched ‘The Exorcist’ which left him surprised. What kind of family entertainment is out there today? Well, Butch Hartman is hoping that OAXIS can narrow that gap.
