We can expect more Dolly Parton on NBC says executive producer Sam Haskell. After the success of Dolly Parton’s “Christmas of Many Colors” last year, Haskell has revealed that NBC has officially greenlit two more projects from the country music and pop culture icon.
While there are no details at this time regarding the future projects, it is safe to say that they will continue in the spirit of family entertainment. Something that Parton has proven can be a success for broadcast television. The art of the family TV movie had been all but forgotten until NBC took a chance on Dolly Parton’s first offering “Coat of Many Colors”. Followed by its sequel of “Christmas of Many Colors”.
Both projects have shown that there is a core audience of faith-viewers who are looking for programming that reflects their values in a positive way. The films also made history winning two back to back MovieGuide awards for best inspirational television.
Development on the new projects will begin immediately says, Haskell.
