In 2012 fans around the world were surprised to have learned that Flyleaf frontwoman Lacey Sturm would be stepping away from mic to live a life outside of music to focus on being a wife, and mother to her two children.

Many wondered if we’d ever hear music from the powerful voice we all know and love ever again. In 2016 Lacey released her first solo record Life Screams and to say her newly named fanbase the StrumTroopers were excited is an understatement.

Now Lacey has released the 1st music video from the album and it’s for the song Rot. The music video follows a woman who would appear to be a victim of domestic violence. We also see another woman passing out  dog tags with Lacey’s heart logo engraved on the necklace. By the end of the video the woman who was against reviving the dog tag surrenders and let’s Lacey place the dog tag around her neck.  It would seem that the heart serves as a symbol of salvation and hope

With lyrics like

So infatuated by the darkness and so surrounded by the light oh my God save my soul. I said I want what’s pure and want what’s right but I need another fix tonight oh my God save my soul.

It’s easy to see why Rot is Lacey’s favorite track on life screams. The song reminds us that nobody is perfect. We all slip and fall but God is always there with open arms to see us through.

The video was filmed by last November’s hidden gem in music artist K Enagonio. The two originally linked up when K photographed Lacey’s album release party back in February. We must say that the two of them are a match made in heaven and we’re able to capture the message of the song perfectly. Not just musically but visually as well. Nice job ladies, we are proud.
