In the aftermath of the Britain’s exit from the European Union, churches across the UK are joining together to pray for the “guidance” and “peace” of the nation.

Churches who take part are being invited to use a prayer issued by the Church of England. The prayer of reconciliation, released to congregations before Sunday morning service, is designed to bring unity to Britain.

“Guide our nation in the coming days through the inspiration of your Spirit, that understanding may put an end to discord and all bitterness,” it reads in part. “Give us grace to rebuild bonds of trust that together we may work for the dignity and flourishing of all; through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The prayer is accompanied by a litany, which includes the statement “Guide our nation in the days and months ahead to walk the paths of peace and reconciliation. Hear us, Lord of life,” reports Premier, A UK Christian publication.

“As citizens of the United Kingdom, whatever our views during the referendum campaign, we must now unite in a common task to build a generous and forward looking country, contributing to human flourishing around the world,” said Most Rev. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Dr. John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, in a joint statement.

“We must remain hospitable and compassionate, builders of bridges and not barriers,” they added.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the Catholic Archbishop of Westminster, said that Britain’s new direction will be challenging for everyone but he hopes that the UK will continue to respect the will of the people.

“Our prayer is that all will work in this task with respect and civility, despite deep differences of opinion,” he said.

Donald Trump’s improbable road to the White House continues to clock historic TV viewing levels. Last night’s long, dramatic Electoral College rollout brought cable news its biggest audience ever for an election night.

Between 7 PM, when many polls closed on the east coast, and 3 AM, when Hillary Clinton finally threw in the towel, Fox News Channel led with 12.2M viewers, as well as 4.8M viewers in the 25-54 news demographic. These are FNC’s highest numbers ever for an election night.

CNN logged 11.2M viewers in the same span of time, and a higher 5.7M viewers in the news demo. Another 5.2M total viewers, and 2.1M news demo viewers, chose MSNBC to the witness real estate developer turned reality TV star win the White House race.

Though the race wasn’t called until the 2-3 AM hour, FNC still had 9.8M viewers tuned at that ungodly hour (4M in the demo. CNN still had 6.5M watching (3.4M in the demo) and MSNBC clung to 2.9M total viewers (1.2M in the demo).

FNC peaked between midnight and 1 AM when 15.4M sat glued to the network as Trump’s path to the White House became clear. That included 6.183M news demo viewers.

CNN peaked earlier, in the 10-11 PM hour, logging a larger 7.201M viewers in the news demo, but a slightly smaller 14.022M total viewers. MSNBC topped out from 11 PM–midnight, when 6.833M were watching, including 3.01M viewers in the 25-54 age bracket.

CNN snagged the most watched Election Night primetime in cable news history; a record 13.258 million viewers tuned in to the network to the witness real estate developer turned reality TV star win the Electoral College race.

FNC followed with 12.112 million from 8-11 PM ET, and MSNBC lagged with 5.945 million. In the news demo, CNN was also No. 1 in primetime, with 6.655 million viewers, followed by FNC’s 4.638 million, and MSNBC’s 2.368 million.

Trump wins presidency, defeats Clinton in historic election upset

Donald Trump, defying the pundits and polls to the end, was projected to defeat Hillary Clinton in Tuesday’s presidential election and claim an establishment-stunning victory that exposes the depth of voter dissatisfaction – and signals immense changes ahead for American policy at home and abroad.

Seventeen months after the billionaire tycoon’s Trump Tower entrance into the race, the first-time candidate once dismissed by the political elite will become the 45th president, Fox News projects.

Speaking to cheering supporters early Wednesday morning at his victory party in New York City, the Republican candidate and now president-elect said Clinton called to congratulate him, and Fox News confirms she has conceded. Despite their hard-fought campaign, Trump praised Clinton for her service and said “it is time for us to come together as one united people.”

“I will be president for all Americans,” Trump vowed, after a brief introduction by running mate Mike Pence.

Sounding a call to “reclaim our country’s destiny,” Trump declared: “The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer. … America will no longer settle for anything less than the best.”
