Happy Birthday to Tegan and Sara!

Today, September 19, marks a very special day for fans of the iconic indie pop duo Tegan and Sara – it’s their birthday! The Canadian identical twin sisters are celebrating another year around the sun today.

Tegan and Sara first burst onto the music scene in 1999 with their debut album Under Feet Like Ours. Now almost 25 years later, their unique vocal harmonies and relatable, emotionally raw lyrics continue to resonate with fans. They’ve released 10 studio albums, numerous EPs and collaborations, and have won 3 Juno Awards and a Polaris Music Prize.

Beyond their music, Tegan and Sara have become inspirational role models for the LGBTQ community. Their 2019 memoir High School documented their struggles with their identity as queer teens in the 90s. The book was adapted into a coming-of-age TV series for Amazon Freevee in 2022.

Even after two decades in the spotlight, Tegan and Sara continue to evolve as artists. Their latest album “Crybaby” released in 2022 continues to showcase their talent.

So happy birthday, Tegan and Sara! Thank you for the gift of your music, your vulnerability, and being a voice for LGBTQ and women in the industry. We can’t wait to see what you’ll create in the years ahead!

Let’s celebrate with some of their most popular songs over the years:

– “This Is Everything” (1999)

“Living Room” (2002)

“Walking with a Ghost” (2004)

“Closer” (2012)

“Boyfriend” (2013)

Tegan and Sara have given us so many great songs and memories over the past 25 years. Their music has been the soundtrack to our lives, helping us dance, cry, laugh, and heal. Though their sound has evolved, their lyrics remain candid, vulnerable, and powerful. Happy birthday, Tegan and Sara – we can’t wait to see what the next 25 years brings!
