Hollywood legend Kevin Bacon has accepted an invitation to attend the final prom at Payson High School in Utah before the building is demolished. The school was a key filming location for the iconic 1984 movie Footloose, and has been the focus of a determined student-led campaign called #BaconToPayson. The aim of the campaign is to bring the star back to where it all began almost 40 years ago.
After nearly a year of unwavering dedication and creativity, the students’ efforts have paid off. Bacon confirmed his attendance during a virtual meeting that was broadcast on the Today Show. He expressed his deep appreciation for the campaign and the indelible mark that both Payson High School and Footloose have left on his life. “The movie and Payson High School was a big part of my life. I’m gonna come,” Bacon declared, much to the delight of the students.
