Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has picked up all international rights to Buddy, the Sundance horror hit that marks the feature directorial debut of Too Many Cooks creator Casper Kelly. Deadline‘s Andreas Wiseman reports the deal is in the mid-seven figures, with Sony beating out multiple suitors for the film.

Roadside Attractions and Saban Films acquired the North American rights in April and released Buddy in theaters August 28, where it became a sleeper hit. The film stars Cristin Milioti, Delaney Quinn, Topher Grace, Michael Shannon and Patton Oswalt, with Keegan-Michael Key voicing the murderous unicorn host of a 1990s-style children’s show.

Made for $3 million, Buddy has grossed $27 million at the North American box office, closing in on a distributor record, and a sing-along version arrives in theaters October 2.
