Curry Barker delivered the news himself, looking straight into the camera in a video Focus Features posted across its social channels: his Obsession follow-up Anything But Ghosts will arrive in theaters on May 7, 2027.
The horror comedy was co-written by Barker with Cooper Tomlinson, who played Ian in Obsession, and the two lead the cast as a pair of fraudulent paranormal investigators who end up way over their heads when a frightened family calls on them to deal with actual ghosts.
McGraw reposted the announcement on her own Instagram, where the May 7, 2027 date is front and center.
Joining them are Bryce Dallas Howard, Aaron Paul, Violet McGraw and Chris Reinacher. The film takes place in the same universe as Obsession, and Barker has teased that an Easter egg in the new film addresses how his breakout hit ended.
Blumhouse-Atomic Monster is producing alongside Spooky Pictures, Divide/Conquer and Image Nation, with Focus Features handling domestic distribution and Universal releasing the film internationally. Production wrapped in April.
The date marks the next chapter of one of the most remarkable box-office stories in recent memory. Obsession opened to $17.2 million, grew 39 percent in its second weekend, and has since passed $519 million worldwide, making it the biggest release in Focus Features history. Focus landed the film in a bidding war after its TIFF premiere, beating out a straight-to-streaming bid from Netflix.
