It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since Hocus Pocus first hit theaters in 1993! The Halloween cult classic starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the delightfully wicked Sanderson Sisters still remains a seasonal favorite three decades later.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary, actor Jason Marsden, who voiced Thackery Binx the cat in the original movie, shared some behind-the-scenes footage on TikTok from recording new audio for Disney’s Magic Kingdom Halloween show.
In the video, Marsden reprises his role as Binx to provide updated narration for the Magic Kingdom Villain Spectacular – a nighttime Halloween production featuring Disney villains that runs during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
It’s a treat for fans to hear Marsden slip right back into character as the snarky immortal feline. He still captures Binx’s sarcastic wit perfectly even after 30 years. The video offers a cool insider’s look at reviving such an iconic role decades later.
Hocus Pocus remains a Halloween staple thanks to its endearing characters, catchy musical numbers, and fun supernatural storyline. The movie’s lasting popularity spawned both a sequel released on Disney+ last year and the annual Magic Kingdom villain show that immerses fans in the spooky world of the Sanderson Sisters.
Relive the hilarious hijinks of Max, Dani, Allison, and Binx and get in the Halloween spirit by rewatching the 1993 classic. And keep an eye out for Marsden’s reprisal as everyone’s favorite snarky cat when you experience the Magic Kingdom show on your next trip to Disney World.
