Paramount+ has unveiled details about the upcoming prequel film ‘Pet Sematary: Bloodlines’, based on Stephen King’s classic horror novel. The movie will debut on Paramount+ on October 6th, just in time for the Halloween season.
King himself has called ‘Pet Sematary’ his scariest story, so expectations are high for this prequel. It will follow a young Jud Crandall in 1969 as he discovers sinister secrets in his hometown of Ludlow, Maine. Jud and his friends must fight an ancient evil connected to the town’s history.
The cast includes Jackson White as Jud, along with Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Isabella Star LaBlanc. Horror icon Pam Grier and David Duchovny will also appear. Lindsey Beer makes her directorial debut, working from a script she co-wrote with Jeff Buhler.
This prequel will provide backstory to the events of King’s novel and the original 1989 ‘Pet Sematary’ film. Beer stated that the movie explores the origins of the Creed family’s arrival in Ludlow, Maine and the ‘Bloodlines’ of evil that corrupt it.
‘Pet Sematary: Bloodlines’ will be a centerpiece of Paramount+’s new Peak Screaming collection. The streaming service is curating horror films and spooky episodes just in time for Halloween.
Horror fans, mark your calendars for October 6th when ‘Pet Sematary: Bloodlines’ premieres. Will it live up to Stephen King’s claim as his scariest story? We’ll find out this fall on Paramount+.
