Get Ready for a Serving of Nostalgia: Good Burger 2 is Officially in Production!

NOTE: This article is 3 months old and may not include the most recent information.

Get ready, folks! The long-awaited sequel to the 90s classic, Good Burger, is finally happening. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell made the thrilling announcement on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday, March 17.

After years of speculation and teasing, the duo confirmed that Good Burger 2 is indeed in the works. The original film was a beloved adaptation of Kenan and Kel’s sketch from the popular Nickelodeon series, All That.

The sequel will see Dexter Reed (Thompson) and original cashier Ed (Mitchell) reuniting in present-day at the Good Burger fast food joint, accompanied by a fresh team of employees. With Dexter struggling after another failed invention, Ed welcomes him back to Good Burger with open arms, offering him his old job. As they work alongside the new crew, Dexter hatches a plan to bounce back, inadvertently putting Good Burger’s future in jeopardy once more.

Kenan expressed his excitement, saying, “I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger! Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud. And now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”

Kel also shared his enthusiasm, stating, “Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after all these years. It’s super awesome to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed, and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching and their kids.”

Good Burger 2’s production is set to begin in May, with a premiere slated for later this year on Paramount+. Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, the original movie’s writers and producers, as well as key contributors to the Kenan & Kel series and All That, will return to write and executive produce the sequel. Phil Traill will direct the film.
