Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is pulling back the curtain a little more. Two new stills have arrived online, giving fans their first look at the Wood Between the Worlds, the mossy, dreamlike place where Polly (Beatrice Campbell) and Digory (David McKenna) begin their world-hopping adventure. The images come from Empire’s new feature on the film, shared by DiscussingFilm.
Empire’s breakdown lays out the journey: Polly and Digory crash land in the Wood Between the Worlds, an endless network of moss-cushioned pools that lead to all sorts of different worlds. Their travels carry them to Charn, an eerie land that has faced total disaster, where they cross paths with the towering witch Jadis (Emma Mackey), the very villain destined to become the White Witch.
They’re not traveling alone. Uncle Andrew (Daniel Craig), an amateur magician who thinks he’s figured out how to jump between worlds with a pair of magic rings, sends the kids off to do his mystical bidding. Digory’s gravely ill mother (Carey Mulligan), a London local named Frank (Kobna Holdbrook-Smith), and Frank’s loyal horse Strawberry round out the group along the way.
The film also gives Aslan, voiced by Meryl Streep, a proper introduction, and Empire reports we will see him create Narnia itself through music. One thing not to expect: the wardrobe itself is not a big feature of this story, though Empire teases there might be hints at future furniture adventures.
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew arrives in theaters February 12, 2027, and lands on Netflix April 2, 2027. Empire’s full cover story, with Gerwig and the cast, is in the November issue, on sale Thursday, September 24.
