“Bunk’d” Concluding After Record-Breaking 7 Season Run on Disney Channel

NOTE: This article is 4 months old and may not include the most recent information.

The Disney Channel has announced that the acclaimed live-action comedy series “Bunk’d” will be concluding after its current seventh season. This makes “Bunk’d” the longest-running live-action series in the history of the Disney Channel.

Premiering in 2015, “Bunk’d” originally started as a spin-off of the hit Disney show “Jessie,” following Emma (Peyton List), Ravi (Karan Brar), and Zuri Ross (Skai Jackson) as they leave their luxury New York City life behind to attend the rustic Maine summer camp Kikiwaka.

While cast member Miranda May continued her role as the enthusiastic camp counselor Lou Hockhauser through all seven seasons, List, Brar and Jackson departed the show after Season 3 in 2018. This cast shakeup led the writers to overhaul the show’s creative direction and introduce a cohort of new characters and storylines to revolve around for the next four seasons.

Production of the seventh and now final season of “Bunk’d” hit an unexpected snag due to the industry-wide Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) strike, temporarily putting the season on hold earlier this year. Fortunately the labor dispute was eventually resolved and filming resumed, allowing the cast and crew to deliver an expanded 22 episode final season versus the originally planned 20 episodes.

In saying goodbye to the groundbreaking show, Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis expressed immense gratitude for the series over its formidable seven season stretch on Disney Channel. She specifically highlighted the show’s skillful blend of humor and heartfelt stories coupled with its inherent knack for consistently engaging young viewers year after year.

The conclusion of “Bunk’d” signifies the end of an era, as Disney Channel shows seldom have the staying power to last beyond a third season due to hefty production costs and young cast members naturally aging out of their roles over time. past seasons of “Bunk’d” cab be watched on the Disney+ streaming platform for dedicated fans hoping to relive the laughter and life lessons from summers spent at Camp Kikiwaka.
