The road to Panem has another song on it. Lizzy McAlpine released “The Wheel” today, the latest track from The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album), the soundtrack to the new Hunger Games prequel film opening in theaters November 20.

McAlpine wrote “The Wheel” with Omar Akrouche and Mason Stoops, and the song is the fifth track on the album. She is best known for “ceilings,” the breakthrough single from her album Five Seconds Flat, and she followed it with Older in 2024.
The full album arrives November 13 via MCA and is available for pre-order now. GRAMMY-winning producer Dave Cobb executive produced the record, a 29-artist lineup spanning genres, with every song written for the film.
Sunrise on the Reaping travels back 24 years before Katniss Everdeen’s story to follow sixteen-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, into the Second Quarter Quell, the 50th Hunger Games. Mckenna Grace co-stars as Maysilee Donner, a fellow District 12 tribute.
“The Wheel” is the newest entry in a soundtrack this site has followed single by single, after Noah Kahan’s “Draw You Out” in September, The Smashing Pumpkins’ “Black Stars” in October and Gigi Perez’s “Favor” last week. Tickets for the film are on sale now ahead of the November 20 opening.
