Warner Bros. Animation has teamed up with Ketchup Entertainment to bring back some of the most beloved characters in animated history to theaters across North America. Fans of classic cartoons, brace yourselves for a sci-fi adventure that’s sure to leave you laughing: “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.”

In a fresh twist on the classic Looney Tunes formula, the film, directed by Pete Browngardt, takes the iconic duo of Daffy Duck and Porky Pig on a high-stakes mission that’s out of this world—literally. When the pair stumbles upon an alien invasion plot at their mundane bubble gum factory job, they’re thrown into a whirlwind of comedic chaos. And, of course, where there’s trouble, there’s fun, especially with Petunia Pig joining the fray.

This isn’t just any Looney Tunes adventure, though. “The Day the Earth Blew Up” is a major milestone for the franchise, marking its return to the big screen after the project was initially greenlit for HBO Max in 2021. Despite facing setbacks during HBO Max’s restructuring, the team behind the film pressed on, with Warner Bros. Animation securing a deal with Ketchup Entertainment to ensure this animated gem would reach audiences in theaters.

The movie features an impressive voice cast, with two-time Emmy Award-winner Eric Bauza lending his talent to both Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. Franchise veterans like Candi Milo and Fred Tatasciore are also on board, alongside notable names such as Peter MacNicol, Wayne Knight, and Laraine Newman, promising a vocal performance as rich and dynamic as the animation itself.

Behind the scenes, a team of seasoned professionals brought this film to life. The screenplay, crafted by a talented group of writers including Darrick Bachman and Kevin Costello, ensures a story full of the wit and slapstick humor that Looney Tunes fans have come to love. The art direction by Nick Cross and production design by Aaron Spurgeon further enhance the visual appeal, staying true to the franchise’s roots while introducing fresh, contemporary elements.

The movie made its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June, receiving a warm reception from critics and audiences alike. This positive feedback has only heightened the anticipation for its theatrical release in North America, although a specific date has yet to be confirmed.

Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “The Day the Earth Blew Up is a historical moment for the Looney Tunes franchise, and we are proud to be partnering with Warner Bros. Animation to bring this film to audiences theatrically. We cannot wait for audiences of all ages to experience one of the smartest animated films in recent years.”

Whether you’re a long-time fan of the franchise or a newcomer to the antics of Daffy, Porky, and the gang, “The Day the Earth Blew Up” promises to be a theatrical experience filled with laughs, thrills, and that timeless Looney Tunes charm.
