Mckenna Grace made an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show today alongside actor Kal Penn. The two reunited after previously working together on the series Designated Survivor when Mckenna was just 10 years old.
During the interview, Mckenna shared her excitement about bringing the Ghostbusters franchise back to its New York City roots in Frozen Empire. She discussed how meaningful it was to promote the film in NYC, where there is a devoted Ghostbusters fan base.
Kal and Mckenna reminisced about their time working together on Designated Survivor, marveling at how much Mckenna has grown and accomplished at such a young age. With her 18th birthday approaching this summer, Mckenna reflected on her career thus far.
The rising star revealed that she often works on her birthdays but always makes sure to celebrate in a special way, like singing karaoke with cast and crew. Her go-to karaoke songs? “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood and “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette.
Kelly expressed her admiration for how Ghostbusters has captivated a new generation of fans, including her own young children who fell in love with the franchise after seeing Mckenna in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. This inspired Kelly to show them the classic 1980s Ghostbusters films. Mckenna agreed that it’s incredible when a movie franchise can bring different generations together.
Though Mckenna has appeared on Kelly’s show before, this was her first time visiting the New York studio. She shared her love for NYC and her excitement to be there promoting Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which hits theaters this Friday.
