Mayim Bialik posted on her verified social media accounts on Friday that she will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of the popular quiz show “Jeopardy!”.
Bialik, known for her role on the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory”, began splitting hosting duties with consulting producer Ken Jennings last year. The two took over following the passing of long-time host Alex Trebek in 2020. A Sony Pictures Television spokesperson confirmed that Jennings will now be the sole host of the syndicated show “in order to maintain continuity for viewers”.
Bialik and Jennings were both nominated for Daytime Emmy awards for their hosting roles. The syndicated “Jeopardy!” underwent hosting turmoil after Trebek’s passing, with former executive producer Mike Richards briefly taking over hosting before stepping down a week later due to resurfaced comments and discrimination lawsuits.
Michael Davies became the show’s new executive producer when Sony brought on Bialik and Jennings. The Sony spokesperson stated that Bialik had contributed greatly to “Jeopardy!” and that they hope to continue working with her on primetime specials. Bialik previously hosted the program’s “Celebrity Jeopardy!” and college championship specials.
