Verity is coming home. Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling thriller, starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, arrives on Prime Video on Tuesday, October 27 to rent or buy, a little over three weeks after it opened in theaters.
Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired by Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett) to finish the hit book series of his wife, best-selling author Verity Crawford (Hathaway), who can no longer write after an accident. Lowen moves into the Crawford home to work through Verity’s notes, and what she finds there, an unpublished manuscript full of disturbing revelations, turns a dream assignment into something far more dangerous. Michael Showalter directs, from a script by Nick Antosca.
Audiences have turned the thriller into one of the fall’s clear hits. As Trevor Decker News covered on opening weekend, the film posted the second-biggest opening ever for a Colleen Hoover adaptation, and it has kept climbing since: more than $162 million worldwide, including $71.5 million in North America, on a reported $40 million budget.
On Prime Video in the U.S., Verity costs $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to buy, and anyone can rent or buy it there, no Prime membership required. Rentals include 30 days to start the movie and 48 hours to finish once you press play. The film also arrives the same day on other digital storefronts, including Apple TV and Fandango At Home. Amazon has not yet announced when Verity will stream as part of a Prime membership, but as an Amazon MGM Studios release, that is the home it will land in.
