New York got its first official look at Verity on Tuesday night, as Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett walked the red carpet at AMC Lincoln Square for the psychological thriller’s New York premiere.
The stars were joined by director Michael Showalter, screenwriter Nick Antosca and author Colleen Hoover, whose best-selling novel the film adapts. The celebration continued after the screening at the Central Park Boathouse.
Adapted from Hoover’s novel, the seductive thriller follows renowned author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer hired to ghostwrite for Verity at the Crawford family’s remote estate. When Lowen uncovers what appear to be Verity’s private autobiographical notes, she is pulled into a tangle of disturbing confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Hartnett) and can no longer tell where fiction ends and reality begins.

As TDN reported, Amazon MGM Studios released the first two clips from the film last week. Verity is rated R for sexual content, some nudity, language, violence and bloody images. It opens only in theaters Friday, October 2.
