Brie Larson is heading to the Amalfi Coast.
The Oscar winner is set to star in a film adaptation of Rebecca Serle’s bestselling novel ‘One Italian Summer,’ according to Deadline. The film is slated to arrive in theaters on May 12, 2028, Mother’s Day weekend.
The story follows Katy, a young woman reeling from the death of her mother, Carol, who was also her best friend. When Katy takes the trip to Positano, Italy that the two of them had planned to take together, she gets an extraordinary second chance. There, she meets the 30-year-old version of her mother, and the two get to know each other in a whole new light.
Paramount Pictures won the rights to Serle’s novel in a competitive bidding war. Serle, the New York Times bestselling author of ‘In Five Years’ and ‘The Dinner List,’ published ‘One Italian Summer’ in 2022.
Harry Bradbeer, the director behind Netflix’s ‘Enola Holmes’ films, is set to direct, with Temple Hill Entertainment producing. Larson will also serve as an executive producer on the project.
