Angel has unveiled the official trailer for “DAVID,” an animated musical that revisits the biblical story of the shepherd boy who becomes king. The film is set for a theatrical release this holiday season, with the company highlighting strong early interest from audiences and theater chains. For readers who have followed previous Angel projects covered here, this marks the studio’s latest large scale faith focused feature aimed at families.

According to Angel, “DAVID” traces the character’s journey from quiet beginnings in his family home to the moment he steps forward against Goliath and beyond. The story is framed around themes of devotion, calling, and responsibility. As David moves from the fields into the politics of a kingdom in turmoil, the film explores how loyalty, love, and courage shape his path and the fate of his people.

Angel notes that advance ticket sales for “DAVID” have already reached the multimillion range and have surpassed the company’s previous pre sale records. The studio reports that theater partners across the country are responding positively to the early numbers and positioning the film as a key family option for the holiday corridor.

The voice cast features Phil Wickham, a Grammy nominated and Dove Award winning artist, in the role of David. He is joined by Brandon Engman, Brian Stivale, and Miri Mesika, who help bring to life the people surrounding David’s story, from family members to figures within the kingdom.

Behind the scenes, “DAVID” is directed by Phil Cunningham and Brent Dawes. The screenplay is credited to Dawes, Kyle Portbury, and Sam Wilson. The score comes from composer Joseph Trapanese, whose previous work includes contributions to major film and music projects, with the production emphasizing music as a core part of how David’s journey is told.

Angel describes itself as a media and technology company guided by its Angel Guild, a grassroots community of more than one and a half million members who help champion values driven stories. “DAVID” is being presented as part of that ongoing slate, bringing a familiar Old Testament figure to theaters in animated musical form for a new generation of moviegoers.
