Tim Allen Reunites With ‘Home Improvement’ Co-Stars in ‘Shifting Gears’ Season 2 Premiere
Season 2 of Shifting Gears will open with a major reunion. Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn, and Debbe Dunning are set to appear in the premiere alongside their former Home Improvement co-star Tim Allen. The episode airs Wednesday, October 1, with details about their characters still under wraps.
Deadline reports that the trio will show up to support Allen’s character Matt Parker in an unexpected way. Their appearance marks the first time the three have been back on screen with Allen in years, making the episode a nostalgic callback for fans of the 1990s hit comedy.
Richardson, Karn, and Dunning all played central roles on Home Improvement, which ran on ABC for eight seasons. Richardson starred as Jill Taylor, Karn became a fan favorite as Al Borland, and Dunning took over as Heidi, the “Tool Time” assistant, from Season 3 onward. Since then, all three have reunited with Allen at different times, from guest spots on Last Man Standing to Allen and Karn’s History Channel projects Assembly Required and More Power.
Bringing them together again for Shifting Gears adds a nostalgic edge to the new season and gives longtime ABC sitcom fans something extra to look forward to.
