Fina Strazza, known for her role as KJ Brandman in the Amazon series “Paper Girls,” has been cast in Netflix’s upcoming horror film, “Fear Street: Prom Queen.” The movie is a sequel to the “Fear Street” trilogy, which premiered on the streaming platform in July 2021.
“Fear Street: Prom Queen” is set in the fictional town of Shadyside, Ohio, and follows the story of a prom queen competition that takes a dark turn when contestants start disappearing under mysterious circumstances. The film is based on the “Fear Street” book series by R.L. Stine, known for his popular “Goosebumps” novels.
Strazza will be joining an ensemble cast that includes India Fowler, Suzanna Son, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston. The film is directed by Matt Palmer, who also co-wrote the script with Donald McLeary. Chernin Entertainment, the production company behind the original “Fear Street” trilogy, is producing the sequel.
The “Fear Street” trilogy, released over three consecutive weeks in July 2021, was a success for Netflix, with the films collectively spending 12 weeks on the platform’s Top 10 list. The sequel aims to build on the franchise’s popularity and deliver another thrilling installment for horror fans.
“Fear Street: Prom Queen” marks a genre shift for Strazza, who previously starred in the sci-fi and coming-of-age drama “Paper Girls.” Her casting in the horror sequel demonstrates her range as an actress and her ability to take on diverse roles.
