Disney to Launch Unified Streaming App Combining ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+

NOTE: This article is 12 months old and may not include the most recent information.

Disney is set to consolidate its streaming platforms ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+ into a single app by the end of this year, as announced by CEO Bob Iger. The move is described as a logical progression of the company’s Direct-to-Consumer offerings.

Despite the consolidation, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ will continue operating as standalone services. The unified app will present an improved opportunity for targeted advertising and promises a more streamlined content experience for viewers.

Iger expressed confidence that the new platform will boost audience engagement and create a more unified streaming experience. The announcement follows a strong fiscal quarter for the company, emphasizing Disney’s commitment to expanding and enhancing its streaming services.

Notably, Disney’s decision arrives ahead of a crucial business negotiation in 2024, related to the future structure and ownership of Hulu, partially owned by Comcast. This development is a significant step in Disney’s streaming strategy, with further details anticipated in the coming months.
