The world tour for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping reached Berlin on Monday, November 2, where Mckenna Grace joined her co-stars for a special event screening at the Zoo Palast. Grace plays Maysilee Donner, the District 12 tribute who fights alongside Haymitch Abernathy in the film.
More than 800 fans gathered outside the theater to welcome the cast and filmmakers to Germany. Grace arrived with Joseph Zada, who plays a young Haymitch Abernathy, and Whitney Peak, who plays Lenore Dove Baird, alongside director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson.

Inside, the screening ran across four auditoriums, and Zada, Grace, Peak, Lawrence and Jacobson greeted the audience in each room before coming together for an on-stage Q&A in the main auditorium. Screenwriter Michael Lesslie and production designer Uli Hanisch were also on hand, along with more than 30 young German actors who play tributes in the film.

The event space leaned into the world of the film. The same floral company that worked on the production dressed the carpet and built two glass butterfly displays filled with foliage and flowers. The chariots used in the film, previously displayed during the tour’s Paris stop, were also on show.
For the photocall, Grace wore a custom Cong Tri dress designed as a nod to the “Girl on Fire,” the flame-inspired look Jennifer Lawrence wore as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. She paired it with a vintage 1920s headpiece and Loree Rodkin rings, and photos of the look spread quickly across social media on Monday night.

Berlin is the latest stop on a tour Trevor Decker News has followed from the start. Grace opened the tour in Sydney with a photocall above Sydney Harbour and its first fan event, and at the London fan screening last month she got emotional seeing the cast’s faces on a poster hanging over the room.
Sunrise on the Reaping is set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen’s story and follows 16-year-old Haymitch into the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell, which sends twice the usual number of tributes into the arena. The film’s trailer arrived in September. Based on the novel by Suzanne Collins and directed by Lawrence, the film is rated PG-13 and opens in theaters only on November 20, with IMAX early access screenings on November 18.
