The Stranger Things family is officially staying together. Netflix has announced a straight-to-series order for an untitled father-daughter spy drama starring Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour, reuniting the pair just six months after the show that made them household names wrapped its final season. For those of us who have tracked every Demogorgon fight, Eggo waffle, and emotional breakthrough since 2016, this is the ultimate post-Hawkins dream come true.
Forget the Upside Down. This time, Brown and Harbour are diving into the world of high-stakes espionage. Harbour plays Matt Wolfe, a disgraced FBI agent turned security expert, while Brown stars as his estranged daughter Rebecca, a rising agent determined to follow in his footsteps. When Rebecca vanishes during a mission, Wolfe is forced back into a field that has evolved far beyond him, dusting off old tools and tricks to bring her home. Expect deep-seated family trauma woven through fast-paced, gritty action. The series is loosely inspired by Paul Warner’s debut novel A Spy in the Blood, though it remains untitled for now.
Netflix is pulling out all the stops behind the camera, too. Prestige powerhouse A24 is producing, and Emmy-winning writer Jack Thorne is set to write and executive produce. Thorne already has a fantastic working relationship with Brown from the Enola Holmes franchise, and he most recently co-created Adolescence, which became the No. 2 most popular English-language series in Netflix history. Both Harbour and Brown will executive produce, with Brown’s husband Jake Bongiovi attached to produce through PCMA Productions as well.
If you have followed our Stranger Things coverage over the last decade, you know how special the bond between Brown and Harbour is. Watching them grow from a telekinetic runaway and a cynical small-town chief into a fierce, loving father and daughter was the emotional heartbeat of the entire sci-fi saga. Seeing them leap straight into a new project together, barely half a year after the finale, is a massive treat. It also quietly shuts down recent internet chatter about on-set tension. In a June 10 Variety cover story, Harbour openly dismissed claims of a major rift, comparing his relationship with Brown to a real, loving family that occasionally argues but always comes back together. This joint venture proves their professional and personal bond is stronger than ever.
