Welcome Back to Jurassic Park: See the De-Aged Trio Return in Epic “What If” Super Bowl Ad

Jurassic Park Works
Jurassic Park Works

The magic of 1993 is making a massive comeback just in time for the Big Game. A brand new Super Bowl ad for Xfinity has officially dropped, and it is leaning heavily into the prehistoric nostalgia that defined a generation of cinema. The commercial serves as a mini-reunion that fans have been dreaming of, proving that some legends truly are timeless.

In a move that is sure to be the talk of the commercial breaks, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum have all returned to reprise their iconic roles. Directed by the visionary Taika Waititi, the spot titled “Jurassic Park… Works” uses cutting-edge digital de-aging to bring us back to the versions of Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm we first fell in love with. Seeing them back on screen together—soundtracked by John Williams’ legendary score and polished by Industrial Light & Magic—evokes that same sense of wonder we felt when we first saw those gates open on the big screen.

The premise is a clever, subversive “what if” scenario: What if the park actually worked? In this version, an Xfinity tech gets the systems back online quickly, averting the prehistoric carnage that defined the original movie. “That could have been bad,” Dern quips, in a cheeky nod to the chaos we all remember. It is a textbook example of corporate synergy, as Comcast utilizes its own NBC broadcast and Universal Pictures franchise to create a true cinematic event.

Beyond the screen, the celebration is hitting the streets. Comcast is bringing the park to life with massive activations across the San Francisco Bay Area, including dinosaur projections on the historic Hobart Building, Jurassic Park off-roaders available for Lyft rides, and even Universal Orlando’s baby velociraptor, Tango, roaming the city with a ranger. It’s a massive celebration of a franchise that has captured imaginations for over three decades.
