Lionsgate has unveiled the official trailer for “Michael,” the upcoming biographical film documenting the life of Michael Jackson. The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, looks to provide a comprehensive look at the entertainer’s career, spanning from his childhood success with the Jackson 5 to his peak as a solo artist.

The production features Jaafar Jackson, the late singer’s nephew, making his film debut in the titular role. Fuqua, known for directing “Training Day,” has emphasized that the casting was based on Jaafar’s ability to capture the mannerisms and spirit of his uncle. The trailer highlights the physical transformation and the recreation of landmark performances that defined Jackson’s legacy.

The cast includes several veteran actors in key roles, with Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo playing Joe Jackson and Nia Long portraying Katherine Jackson. The film also features Miles Teller as attorney John Branca and Laura Harrier as Suzanne de Passe. According to the official synopsis, the movie aims to explore Jackson’s life both on and off the stage, including his “relentless pursuit” of becoming the world’s premier entertainer.

Produced by Lionsgate and GK Films with the cooperation of the Jackson estate, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 24.
