Great news for fans of classic American tales! Netflix has officially kicked off production on its highly anticipated reboot of “Little House on the Prairie,” with the first photos of the new Ingalls family cast already revealed.
This reimagined series draws inspiration from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s semi-biographical books, which chronicled her childhood in the American Midwest between 1872 and 1894. Many will remember the beloved NBC TV series that ran from 1974 to 1983. The new Netflix adaptation promises to be a compelling blend of “hopeful family drama, epic survival tale, and origin story of the American West,” following young pioneer Laura Ingalls and her family as they journey across America in search of a new life.
The cast bringing these iconic characters to life is truly exciting. Luke Bracey steps into the role of Charles Ingalls, with Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, and Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls. Skywalker Hughes will play Mary Ingalls. The series also features Warren Christie as John Edwards, Jocko Sims as Dr. George Tann, Meegwun Fairbrother as Mitchell, Alyssa Wapanatâhk as White Sun, Wren Zhawenim Gotts as Good Eagle, and Xander Cole as Little Puma.
Showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Sonnenshine expressed her enthusiasm for the ensemble, stating, “Each one of them brings something special to the Little House universe and will help make this story come alive for a whole new generation.”
The show boasts a strong executive producing team including Sonnenshine, Dana Fox, Susanna Fogel, Trip Friendly, and Joy Gorman Wettels. Production is being handled by Friendly Family Productions, Joy Coalition, Anonymous Content Studios, and CBS Studios.
Get ready to revisit the prairie and experience the enduring story of the Ingalls family through a fresh new lens on Netflix!
