Butch Hartman, the creative force behind “The Fairly OddParents,” has launched his latest animated series, “The Garden,” now streaming on the Angel Studios app. Originally released on Pure Flix in January 2023, the series made its Angel Studios debut earlier this month, giving it a fresh platform for its faith-based storytelling.
Hartman’s animation career began in 1987 at Hanna-Barbera after graduating from CalArts. He contributed character designs to shows like Tom & Jerry Kids and Dexter’s Laboratory before founding Billionfold Inc. in 2003. His breakthrough came in 2001 with “The Fairly OddParents,” which ran for ten seasons and consistently ranked among Nickelodeon’s top programs for children 2–11. Over the following years, he created “Danny Phantom,” “T.U.F.F. Puppy,” and “Bunsen Is a Beast,” earning multiple Daytime Emmy nominations along the way.
“The Garden” centers on characters such as Lenny the Lion and Lucy the Lamb, who navigate a vibrant garden setting to illustrate themes drawn directly from Scripture—generosity, honesty and forgiveness. Each roughly ten-minute episode combines lighthearted humor, original music and clear storytelling to explore these principles in a format familiar to young viewers.
Angel Studios, known for its viewer-funded model that helped bring “The Chosen” to audiences worldwide, now hosts “The Garden,” allowing supporters to back future episodes through its pay-it-forward system. Production is led by Butch Hartman alongside Julieann Hartman and Taylor Bradbury, with a musical score by Guy Moon complementing the bright, expressive animation. In a statement, Hartman said he aimed “to bring biblical lessons to life in a way that feels as entertaining as any other cartoon on the screen.”
To start streaming “The Garden,” download the Angel Studios app on your device or visit the Angel Studios website, register for free and select “The Garden” from the lineup. New episodes will continue to roll out weekly, alongside occasional seasonal shorts—such as the recent Easter special, “The Tree of Life.”
