Prime Video is set to premiere House of David, a new series exploring the life of the biblical King David, on February 27. Coinciding with the series’ debut, Capitol Christian Music Group will release House of David: Season One (Music Inspired by the Prime Video Original Series), a soundtrack that merges contemporary music with the timeless narrative of David’s journey from shepherd to king.
The series will kick off with three episodes, followed by weekly releases to more than 240 countries and territories. The soundtrack offers a mix of original songs and reinterpretations from a diverse lineup of artists, including for KING + COUNTRY, NEEDTOBREATHE featuring Tori Kelly, Lecrae, Jamie MacDonald, Blessing Offor, and more.
The first single, 40 by for KING + COUNTRY, is already available and offers a reimagined take on U2’s 1983 hit. The track draws inspiration from Psalm 40, connecting the ancient text with modern listeners. “We are beside ourselves that U2 gave us permission to reimagine their anthem ‘40’, which is inspired by one of the most powerful kings to walk the Earth, King David,” said Joel and Luke Smallbone of for KING + COUNTRY. “We are thoroughly looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2025.”
NEEDTOBREATHE’s collaboration with Tori Kelly on I’ve Got A Story serves as another highlight of the soundtrack. The song, which delves into themes of struggle and perseverance, is expected to resonate with audiences. Bear Rinehart of NEEDTOBREATHE reflected on his personal connection to the story of David, saying, “I could always see myself in his story. Sometimes beauty and brokenness can exist in the same place. The song, ‘I’ve Got A Story,’ is really my story. I’m honored to be part of the House of David soundtrack.” Tori Kelly added, “I’m so excited to watch the live action retelling of the incredible story of David and listen to all of the music inspired by it. ‘I’ve Got A Story’ is a song about struggle, perseverance, reflection, and triumph. I hope this song finds anyone who listens to it in a moment when they need it most, whether they’re going through a painful time or a moment of victory.”

Blessing Offor, whose track Giants Fall is part of the soundtrack, emphasized how the story of David mirrors everyday experiences. “I love everything about the story of David. He’s real and imperfect but means well. I was pumped to write ‘House of David’ because of how relatable it is. It can be about any of us who are trying to be better, failing all the time but still trying,” Offor shared.
House of David offers a fresh take on the age-old tale of King Saul’s fall from grace and David’s rise to power. Michael Iskander stars as David, alongside Ali Suliman (Jack Ryan) as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer (Man Of Steel) as Queen Ahinoam, Stephen Lang (Avatar: The Way of Water) as the prophet Samuel, and Martyn Ford (Mortal Kombat 2) as Goliath.
The series is a collaborative project led by Jon Erwin, with executive producers Jon Gunn, Jonathan Lloyd Walker, Justin Rosenblatt, Chad Oakes, and Michael Frislev. Dallas Jenkins, known for The Chosen, serves as a special advisor, contributing his expertise to the faith-based series.
