A new British comedy is heading to American screens, and the first photos say plenty about the kind of show it is: two support workers in staff lanyards, perched on the edge of a resident’s bed in a room covered with crayon drawings and dinosaur bedding. The show is Rewarding, an upcoming six-part sitcom commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland and Wonder Project, the faith and values studio behind House of David. It is produced by Conker Pictures, part of Banijay UK, with support from Northern Ireland Screen.
Vittorio Angelone plays Francis, a veteran of the place who has learned to expect the worst from any given shift, opposite Hannah McClean as Sinead, the new starter who walks in certain she can change things. They work at Beacon Fold, a care home in Northern Ireland, and spend their days looking after its residents. The residents, it turns out, are the easy part. What wears them down is everything around the caring: the paperwork, the coworkers, and the mess waiting for both of them when they get home.

Head writer Matthew McDevitt (Hope Street) knows this world from the inside, having spent years working in social care himself, and he wrote the series with Paddy Campbell (Bodkin) and Faebian Averies (Bergerac). Even the title comes from the job. Tell someone you work in care, McDevitt notes, and the reply is almost always the same slightly patronizing line: that must be challenging, but rewarding.
The residents are played by disabled, neurodivergent and learning disabled actors, people whose own experience of the care system shapes how the show tells its stories. Lee Snodgrass plays Cal, Faith Alabi (Industry) plays Martina, and John Moffat appears in his first television role as Joe. On staff alongside Francis and Sinead are Bernadette Brown (Say Nothing) as Fidelma, Joanne Crawford (Blue Lights) as Nicola and Faolan Morgan as Cyril.

Rewarding began as a single short episode made through Green Lit, a BBC Northern Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen scheme for emerging talent. Three of the scheme’s shorts were broadcast in 2025, and Rewarding was the one picked up for a full series. Angelone first played Francis in that short, where Snodgrass made his acting debut as Cal, while McClean is new to the role of Sinead. David Moody directs the series.

The series airs in the UK this fall on BBC iPlayer and BBC Northern Ireland. American viewers get it later this year on Wonder Project’s subscription service on Prime Video, and an exact U.S. premiere date has not been announced yet.
