The iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City is adding a delightfully dark twist this year with a brand-new float inspired by Netflix’s hit series Wednesday. The float features the gothic teen herself, Wednesday Addams, at her most morbidly festive, serving her brother Pugsley’s head on a platter. Thing, the disembodied hand and fan-favorite character, will also be part of the macabre display.
Adding to the spectacle, an army of Wednesday lookalikes will accompany the float, and indie-pop sensation Bishop Briggs is set to perform a rendition of “Paint it Black,” a song that gained popularity through its connection to the series.
Star-Studded Parade Lineup
The Wednesday float is just one of many highlights in this year’s celebrity-packed parade lineup. Stars like Alison Brie, Idina Menzel, and T-Pain will lead the festivities. Special appearances include Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Kylie Cantrall, Lea Salonga, Jonathan Bennett, Liza Colón-Zayas, Tom Kenny, and Ginna Claire Mason. Members of the New York Liberty basketball team and their mascot Ellie the Elephant will also join the celebration.
The Radio City Rockettes are slated to dazzle audiences with their signature precision dancing. Broadway fans can look forward to performances from cast members of Death Becomes Her, Hell’s Kitchen, and The Outsiders, which took home the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical. Idina Menzel will perform “Great Escape” from the new Broadway production Redwood.
New Character Balloons
In addition to the Wednesday float, new character balloons will take to the skies. This year’s lineup features beloved icons like Minnie Mouse, Spider-Man, Goku, Extraordinary Noorah, and The Elf on the Shelf, among others.
Anticipation Builds for Wednesday Season Two
The introduction of the Wednesday float comes as fans eagerly await the second season of the Netflix series, starring Jenna Ortega in the titular role. Adding to the excitement, earlier this month, it was announced that Lady Gaga will join the cast for the upcoming season.
When and Where to Watch
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air live on NBC from 8:30 a.m. ET to noon ET, with streaming available on Peacock. An encore presentation will be broadcast on NBC later in the afternoon.
