Warner Bros. has just dropped an exhilarating new trailer for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the highly anticipated sequel to the 1988 cult classic. This follow-up promises to deliver more of the quirky, spooky fun that fans adored, featuring the return of Michael Keaton as the iconic, mischievous ghoul Beetlejuice. The new film also introduces an impressive ensemble cast, including Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux. Familiar faces Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara are back to reprise their original roles.
In “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the Deetz family returns to their Winter River home after an unexpected family death. Lydia Deetz (Ryder), now a mother, faces new supernatural challenges when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid (Ortega), stumbles upon a portal to the afterlife hidden in their basement. As the name Beetlejuice is inevitably chanted three times, the pandemonium begins anew, turning their lives upside down.
“The living, the dead… can they coexist? That’s what we’re here to find out,” Ryder’s Lydia teases in the trailer, setting the tone for another wild adventure.
Jenna Ortega continues to solidify her status as a modern scream queen with this role. Having gained acclaim for her performance in the Netflix series “Wednesday,” as well as in horror hits like Ti West’s “X” and the recent “Scream” franchise reboot, Ortega’s presence adds an exciting dynamic to the film. Although fans were disappointed to learn that Ortega will not return for “Scream 7” due to scheduling conflicts with “Wednesday” Season 2, her involvement in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is highly anticipated.
Tim Burton, who directed the original “Beetlejuice,” is back at the helm for the sequel. The script is crafted by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creative minds behind “Wednesday.” The production team boasts notable names such as Brad Pitt, David Katzenberg, Laurence Senelick, Gough, Millar, Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, and Andrew Lary as executive producers, with Tommy Harper, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner serving as producers. Renowned composer Danny Elfman returns to score the film, ensuring the eerie yet whimsical atmosphere fans expect.
