Prime Video has officially confirmed the fate of the popular show, A League of Their Own. The streaming platform previously disclosed that the series would return for a condensed final season, consisting of only four episodes. This decision has now been affirmed, solidifying the show’s status as a limited series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Prime Video first announced in March that the forthcoming four episodes would serve as the second and concluding season. In a recent report, also by The Hollywood Reporter, Prime Video substantiated this information.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, expressed his pride in the work of Abbi Jacobson, Will Graham, and the entire cast and crew. He acknowledged the show’s dedicated fanbase and the accolades it has received. Sanders also recognized the disappointment some fans may feel with the brief renewal, but assured them that the creators have an exciting conclusion planned for the series.
The Hollywood Reporter indicates that the final season’s confirmation followed months of negotiations with Sony Pictures Television, during which new deals were signed by the cast and creative team for the shortened run.
Fans can currently stream the entire first season of A League of Their Own on Prime Video.
