Nicki Minaj is set to executive produce and star in ‘Lady Danger’, a new animated series on Amazon Freevee, based on the Dark Horse comic book series by Alex de Campi. Joining Minaj as executive producers are Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson under his G-Unit Film & TV banner, Brian Sher, and Paul Young & Mike Griffin for Make Good Content. Starburns Industries will serve as the animation studio for the project.
The show, written by executive producers Carlton Jordan and Crystle Roberson, takes place in 2075 and follows a government field agent who is left for dead by her team after discovering a dangerous secret. She is then resurrected as Lady Danger, an afrofuturistic Agent of B.O.O.T.I (Bureau of Organized Terrorism Intervention), tasked with fighting villains threatening the Earth and its vulnerable inhabitants while concealing her true identity.
Carlton Jordan’s previous work includes Disney FairyTale Weddings for Freeform, Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce for Fuse, Mexican Dynasties for Bravo, and the upcoming Unfiltered: Paris Jackson series for Facebook Watch. He is also currently developing scripted projects with Regina King’s Royal Ties Productions and adapting his digital series Love Handles for HBO.
Crystle Roberson, who completed the Sony Diversity Directors Program, has directed shorts and music videos for talents such as Columbus Short and Idris Elba. In recent years, she directed episodes of Ambitions and Greenleaf for OWN/Lionsgate, as well as Bigger and American Soul for BET. Most recently, Roberson served as a producer and director on Queens for ABC and is slated to direct a block of BMF for Starz/G-Unit. As a writer, she sold her spec pilot Love Handles to HBO with Regina King producing.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, under his G-Unit Film & Television banner, has produced content across various platforms, most notably the hit Starz series Power, in which he also starred, executive produced, and directed. Jackson’s previous deal with Starz led to his executive producing role in expanding the Power universe with spin-offs Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force. Recently announced projects in development include three BMF spinoffs and the British boxing drama Fightland. Jackson is represented by APA and attorney Steve Savva.
