Dove Cameron has been in the public eye for quite some time now, having risen to fame as a Disney Channel star. Recently, Cameron opened up about her experiences starting out on the network and how she received valuable advice from another Disney alum, Selena Gomez.
According to Cameron, network president Gary Marsh insisted that she meet with Gomez and talk about the changes that were about to take place in her life after being cast on Liv and Maddie. Gomez welcomed Cameron into her home and the two spent hours talking at the kitchen table, with Gomez even offering to make her some toast. Gomez provided Cameron with some valuable advice on how to navigate her new career, and even offered support and encouragement whenever Cameron reached out to her in a panic.
Cameron has previously spoken about feeling like an outlier in the “Disney machine” and not feeling like she fit in with the other Disney girls. Despite this, she has managed to find success and make a name for herself in the entertainment industry. As Cameron stated, her transition from Disney to a pop singer was a “total f— accident,” but it’s clear that she has taken the lessons she learned from her time on the network and used them to pave her own path in the industry.
