Bruno The Brake Car Is The First Autistic Character To Join The Thomas & Friends Franchise

Bruno the Brake Car, the first character with autism, joins Thomas the Train in the iconic British television franchise “Thomas & Friends.” Chuck Smith, an autistic actor, provides the character’s voice.

Bruno will play a “vital role” in “Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go,” a reboot of the long-running animated series “Thomas & Friends,” which premiered n 2021. Bruno will also be featured in the franchise’s YouTube series, music album, and podcast “Thomas & Friends Storytime.”

Mattel Television worked with organizations such as the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) and Easterseals Southern California, as well as writers and autism advocates Daniel Share-Strom and Aaron Likens, to create the character.

“Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go” can be found on Cartoon Network, Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube TV.
