Sophia Anne Caruso’s debut album, On Ecstatic, is out now. The 10-song set arrives on streaming platforms today, September 18, after a short run of advance singles that already pointed toward a full hyperpop chapter for the Broadway and screen star.
As TDN reported when “Higher State” landed, Caruso framed the project as an electronic love letter built around hope, memory, and choosing one another in a fragmented world. That first single featured her partner and collaborator Sky Lakota-Lynch. She followed it with “like i like u”, written with Jake Prein, which kept the personal songwriting front and center while leaning further into dancefloor energy.
On Ecstatic runs about 32 minutes across 10 tracks. The sequence opens with “i’m in (love),” then moves through the previously released “like i like u” and “Higher State (feat. Sky Lakota-Lynch)” before diving into new cuts including “memory blue,” “summerstone (feat. gloss*),” “malachite,” “gulf of a dove,” “another life,” “unbinding light,” and “love thru it.” You can stream the full album now on Spotify and Apple Music.
Caruso built her name originating Lydia Deetz in Broadway’s Beetlejuice, then moved between stage and screen with credits including David Bowie’s Lazarus, Grey House, Netflix’s The School for Good and Evil, and the upcoming Miss Goldenweek role in live-action One Piece Season 2. Music has been part of her work since earlier singles like “Toys,” “Goodbye,” and “Snow & Ice,” but On Ecstatic is her first full-length statement as a recording artist.
The album lands in the middle of another stage sprint. Caruso leads Duncan Sheik’s off-Broadway world premiere of Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, with performances beginning September 25 ahead of an October 15 opening. A debut album and a new musical lead in the same season is a lot to hold at once, and she is clearly choosing to hold both.
