‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Holds Top Spot on Netflix With 29.1 Million Views in Week Two

Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2 has maintained its stronghold as the platform’s most-watched title for the week of August 11–17, drawing 29.1 million views in its second week of release. The series once again led the streamer’s global Top 10 rankings, despite experiencing a natural dip from its debut numbers.

According to Netflix’s latest data, the sophomore season fell 42% from its opening five days, when it pulled in 50 million views. By comparison, Season 1 had a more explosive start in 2022, debuting with over 50 million views before climbing higher the following week. However, it’s important to note that Netflix’s release strategy has changed. The first season arrived all at once, while Season 2 has been split into two four-episode parts. That structure means viewers were able to complete Part 1 much faster, which could help explain the slower momentum.

Season 2 Part 2 is set to arrive September 3, at which point Netflix will combine the viewing totals for both halves of the season. Until then, the performance gap between the two seasons will remain difficult to measure directly.

Meanwhile, the popularity of Season 2 has boosted interest in Season 1, which returned to the Top 3 with 7.4 million views for the week. Sandwiched between the two was newcomer Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser, which earned 7.5 million views in just three days. Other series rounding out the Top 10 included Untamed, The Hunting Wives, and Sullivan’s Crossing Season 3.

On the movies side, KPop Demon Hunters continued its remarkable run at No. 1 with 26 million views in its ninth week on the chart, followed by Night Always Comes and My Oxford Year.

Internationally, In the Mud led the non-English language TV list with 5.6 million views, while Blood Brothers: Fury of the Dragon topped the non-English movie chart with 2 million views.

With anticipation building for the second half of Wednesday Season 2, Netflix is preparing for another surge in viewership when new episodes land in early September.
