Peacock’s upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake is adding a chilling new face to its cast. Callum Vinson, known for roles in Chucky and Long Bright River, has been cast as a young Jason Voorhees in the highly anticipated series from A24.
While Jason is widely recognized as the silent, hockey mask-wearing killer from the iconic horror franchise, Crystal Lake will focus on the character’s earlier years and the events that led to his transformation. At the center of the story is his mother, Pamela Voorhees, portrayed by Linda Cardellini, a woman who gave up a promising singing career to care for her special needs son—only to descend into a path of vengeance after his apparent drowning.
Vinson is set to appear as a recurring guest star. With the spotlight primarily on Pamela, the series promises to explore Jason’s backstory in more depth than ever before, giving fans a new perspective on the tragedy that haunts Camp Crystal Lake.
Also joining the cast are Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik, taking on roles that may echo characters from the original film—including Ralph, Barry, and Claudette. While these names are familiar to longtime fans, it’s possible the series will offer fresh takes or expanded backstories for each of them.
Crystal Lake is created and executive produced by Brad Caleb Kane, with A24 producing alongside Victor Miller—the original creator of Jason Voorhees—and other executive producers including Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil.
As the series reimagines the roots of one of horror’s most iconic characters, Crystal Lake is shaping up to be a compelling addition to the Friday the 13th legacy. Keep checking Trevor Decker News for more updates on this chilling new chapter.
