Angel Studios, best known for faith-based and community-oriented projects, is stepping into new territory with the upcoming theatrical release of its first romantic comedy, Solo Mio, headlined by actor and comedian Kevin James. Set for a nationwide debut on February 6, 2026, the film expands Angel Studios’ portfolio into mainstream romantic comedy territory.
Directed by Charles and Daniel Kinnane, who previously worked on Netflix’s sports comedy Home Team, Solo Mio centers around Matt (Kevin James), whose carefully planned dream wedding in Italy turns sour when he’s abandoned at the altar. Rather than canceling his honeymoon, Matt chooses to embrace his solo journey, experiencing Italy’s famed culture, cuisine, and picturesque landscapes in a quest for self-discovery.
The film’s notable cast includes familiar faces such as Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy), Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother), Julie Ann Emery (Better Call Saul), Jonathan Roumie (The Chosen), Julee Cerda, and Nicole Grimaudo. The screenplay was co-written by Kevin James alongside Patrick and John Kinnane, known for their previous collaboration on Sound Guy.
According to Angel Studios president Jordan Harmon, Solo Mio resonated deeply with the studio’s internal screening groups, particularly highlighting the comedic pairing of Kevin James and Jonathan Roumie. Producer Jeffrey Greenstein also shared enthusiasm about the film’s broad theatrical potential, emphasizing its combination of humor and heartfelt storytelling as key factors for audience engagement.
Angel Studios, which operates on an audience-driven model, previously gained attention with productions emphasizing inspirational themes and community involvement. The upcoming romantic comedy was introduced as a centerpiece during the recent Illuminate 2025 event, where Angel outlined its ambitious content slate for the upcoming year.
Solo Mio will open in theaters nationwide on February 6, 2026.
