After drawing strong attention with its December release, Homestead: The Series is getting an extended runway. Angel Studios has announced it will complete the first season and move forward with a full second season of the post-apocalyptic drama inspired by the Black Autumn novels.
Spun off from the Homestead feature film—which brought in over $20 million at the box office—the series continues the story of Jeff Eriksson, a former Green Beret who leads his family to a survivalist compound after a nuclear detonation throws the nation into chaos. Bailey Chase stars in the lead role, with Charles Esten, Dawn Olivieri, Jill Wagner, and Jesse Hutch rounding out the ensemble.
In a statement confirming the renewal, Angel Studios President Jordan Harmon credited the show’s momentum to audience enthusiasm: “Homestead has captivated audiences worldwide with its bold and uplifting vision of the post-apocalyptic genre.” Harmon added that support from the platform’s Angel Guild—a community of more than one million members—helped secure the early greenlight for Season 2.
While the first season established the Homestead as a stronghold for survival, upcoming episodes will shift focus to what it means to rebuild a society from the ashes. “The remaining Season 1 & 2 takes us deeper into the aftermath,” said showrunner Ben Kasica, “as the Homestead transforms from a survivalist stronghold into the fragile heart of a new civilization—where rising hope collides with the threat of war, and the choice to lead could cost everything.”
Directed by Ben Smallbone and produced by Kasica and Andrea Royer, the series combines action with faith-infused storytelling and themes of resilience, unity, and moral leadership.
“The story’s heart lies in its characters and their journey to find hope amidst chaos,” Smallbone said. “With Bailey and Charles leading the charge, we’re excited to explore new dimensions of their stories and the world they’re fighting to protect.”
Production on the remaining episodes of Season 1 is scheduled to begin this summer, with new installments expected to roll out later in the year. The series streams exclusively on the Angel Studios website and mobile app.
