IMDb has given Inde Navarrette’s breakout year its official stamp.
The Obsession star received IMDb’s “Breakout” STARmeter Award at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on September 16, presented at the Getty Images Portrait Studio by IMDb and IMDbPro. The STARmeter Awards recognize the stars who are fan favorites on the IMDbPro STARmeter chart, which is determined by the page views of more than 250 million monthly IMDb visitors.
Watch IMDb’s interview with Navarrette after the presentation:
In the two-minute interview, Navarrette named her biggest pinch-me moment from the film’s press tour: meeting Penelope Cruz. ‘She told me that she hadn’t watched the film and I said, “You don’t have to. You shouldn’t know who I am,”‘ she laughed. ‘I’m obsessed with her.’ She also shared her audition strategy: with her Hansel and Gretel monologue, she tried to make the director ‘as uncomfortable as humanly possible, kindly,’ testing the unnerving ‘come lie with me’ line on her roommate first. ‘He was like, “don’t do that.” And I was like, “oh perfect.”‘
According to IMDb, Navarrette is now trending to be named one of its top breakout stars of the year, to be announced in December.
The honor places her among an elite group of past TIFF STARmeter Award recipients, including Brie Larson, Barry Keoghan, Olivia Wilde, Priyanka Chopra, and Riz Ahmed.
It is the latest milestone in a remarkable year for Navarrette, who won a Critics’ Choice Award for her performance as Nikki in Obsession. The film has earned more than $512 million at the worldwide box office. Up next, she will play Rogue in Marvel’s X-Men film and host the Halloween episode of Saturday Night Live on October 31.
