Jenna Ortega, star of the Netflix series “Wednesday,” recently revealed in an interview that she had COVID while filming the viral dance sequence featured in the fourth episode of the show’s first season.
This has led some to doubt COVID procedures and criticize the show’s producer, MGM. According to the company, all necessary measures were followed. “strict COVID protocols were followed and once the positive test was confirmed production removed Jenna from set.”
Regarding Jenna Ortega’s comments on the viral dance sequence to the Cramps’ 1981 song “Goo goo muck,” the actor confirms that She requested a redo of the scene.
“I asked to redo it but we didn’t have time. I think I probably could have done it a bit better,” she told NME.
A sick day is unusual for Jenna Ortega, she adds in the same interview, adding that she seldom feels ill.
“Yeah, I woke up and – it’s weird, I never get sick and when I do it’s not very bad – I had the body aches. I felt like I’d been hit by a car and that a little goblin had been let loose in my throat and was scratching the walls of my esophagus. They were giving me medicine between takes because we were waiting on the positive result.”
Even though Jenna did not test positive for COVID at the time, the show continues to get criticism for allowing her to work when she was suffering symptoms. Despite this, many of Jenna’s supporters have concluded that she felt forced to continue working despite the unfavorable results of her COVID tests and are thus coming to her defense.
