Tickets Are Now on Sale for Sophia Anne Caruso’s New Off Broadway Musical Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen

Tickets are officially on sale for Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, the new Off Broadway musical starring Sophia Anne Caruso, which TDN first covered when the casting news broke last week. The production has now opened sales ahead of its world premiere run this fall.

Caruso stars as Colette, a witty young dreamer working at a Parisian establishment called the Night Egg in the early twentieth century, who spends her days turning her clients’ confessions into stories while she wrestles with her own unresolved feelings for a childhood love named Leon. The role marks Caruso’s return to the New York stage following her run in the psychological thriller Grey House, and comes after she originated the role of Lydia Deetz in Broadway’s Beetlejuice.

Joining Caruso in the cast are Cory Jeacoma as Leon, Nkeki Obi-Melekwe as Nana, Andy Bakun as Sakae, and Jenny Powers as Madame. The musical is based on Moyoco Anno’s manga of the same name, and its creative team is billing it as the first manga adapted into an American musical in the English language. Duncan Sheik, the Tony and Grammy winning composer behind Spring Awakening and American Psycho, wrote the music and lyrics, with a book by Leah Nanako Winkler. Rob Ashford, a Tony, Olivier and Emmy winner, directs and choreographs, with scenic design by Scott Pask, costumes by Catherine Zuber and lighting by Brian Tovar.

Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen begins previews September 25, ahead of an official opening night on October 15, and is scheduled to run through January 3 at the Night Egg at the Culture Club, the Chelsea venue that formerly housed Sleep No More.
